8 Ways to Eat More Ayurvedically for Better Digestion, Without Changing Your Diet!
Eat seasonally and locally when possible. Your local farmers' market is a great place to start!
Eat meals at or around the same time every day
Eat 3 meals a day to give your food time to digest between meals (light afternoon snack okay if needed)
Don't combine cooked and raw food- at least lightly steam raw veggies. (No side salads or fruit as a side- eat this as a separate meal/snack. Don't combine meat and dairy in the same meal.)
No screens or other distractions while eating, turn the TV off and put down the phone, book, newspaper etc. Keep conversation light and positive
Eat sitting down, not standing up, walking around, driving etc
Eat mindfully with intention, chew food slowly and thoroughly between bites
Switch to warm or room temp water, and don't drink too much with your meal
5 Easy Ayurvedic Practices I've Implemented This Month (That Have Made a Big Difference!)
Drinking warm water. Just slightly warmer than room temp. I feel more hydrated and less thirsty!
Oil pulling with coconut oil first thing in the morning, followed by tongue scraping. My gums are less inflamed and my tongue is more pink already
Dry brushing before a shower to improve circulation and dry skin
Self-Abhyanga (Self-Massage) with coconut oil after a warm shower (Sesame Oil is great for this too, but cooling coconut oil is better for me!)
Not mixing cooked and raw foods. I have started lightly steaming my microgreens and other veggies with my meals and they are digesting so much easier!!
